Keynsham at Art This website is supported by North East Somerset Arts (NESA) and Keynsham Town Council. Promoting art at the heart of KeynshamKeynsham has in recent months received 3 grants which will bring professional artists and state of the art equipment to Keynsham. Visage Arts have received a grant from Awards for All which will allow them to bring a variety of artists to Keynsham to work alongside retired Keynsham residents. Please see the Visage Arts page for more details. Film Works have received a grant from Awards for All which has bought the very latest in projection equipment. This will mean that all films shown at the Fry’s Club will be of the same quality as the cinema. Please see the Film Works page for more details of this year’s screenings. Community Music ProjectKeynsham has also received a substantial award towards a community music project to celebrate the opening of a new outdoor performance space which we hope will open in the summer of 2007. The aims of the project are to produce an original musical work of high quality based on Keynsham history which will involve a broad cross section of the local community. The performance will be based around some aspect of Keynsham’s history and will provide the opportunity for local residents to participate in research, creative writing, music composition, props and costume making. A New Band is being formed in KeynshamProvisionally named The KC Street Band, we are looking for anybody who wants to play music for fun. For complete novices we will provide a loan instrument and friendly tuition. For those who used to play, here is an easy way to get going again. For those who can play we would love to hear from you and will welcome your contributions. We will play music from a wide variety of street music sources from all over the world, which will be learnt by ear or written arrangements. We have brass, woodwind and percussion instruments but would welcome other instruments that can be played walking (or dancing) down the street, for example guitars and accordions. We will be meeting on Tuesday’s from 7:30 to 9:30. A small charge of £4 for adults and £2 for teenagers is expected to cover the costs of hiring the hall. Please contact John on 0117 924 7032 for further information. |
