A Talk by William Dalrymple at the Carter Room, Fry Club and Conference Centre

Leading travel writer, historian and broadcaster, William Dalrymple, author of 'From the Holy Mountain' and 'The Last Mughal' will give a talk.

William Dalrymple is perhaps the foremost writer interpreting the spiritual landscapes of the world.

He has won multiple awards - including the Thomas Cook Travel Award, a Best Documentary BAFTA, and the Sandford St Martin Prize for Religious Broadcasting. Other books published include 'City of Djinns' and 'In Xanadu'

A lunchtime of classical and romantic guitar with Cephalonian guitarist, Spyros Dendrinos.  Expect an exquisite performance influenced by his Mediterranean roots.

A classic music film starring Liza Minnelli as Sally Bowles, bringing 1931 Berlin to life.

Media singer/songwriter Gareth Davies-Jones speaks and sings at the Carter Room, Fry Club & Conference Centre.

Described stylistically as James Taylor meets Billy Bragg or Brian Kennedy meets Pete Seeger, Gareth has a crisp clear guitar style and a mature and memorable voice. From the big issues to the mundane he performs and entertains in the folk/acoustic tradition as well as using his music to support various organisations fighting for social justice such as Traidcraft, Asylum Aid and Casa Alianza.

Join us at Broadlands School on the second Saturday of every month and let your soul get carried away to rhythms from the four corners of the earth.  It doesn’t matter whether you are an expert drummer or an absolute beginner, a centenarian or a toddler, just come along and go with the flow.
