Promoting art at the heart of Keynsham

Keynsham has in recent months received 3 grants which will bring professional artists and state of the art equipment to Keynsham. This is brilliant news and we are all over the moon by the recent decision for the grants.

Visage Arts have received a recent grant from “Awards For Al”l which allows them to bring a variety of artists to Keynsham to work alongside retired Keynsham residents.

Film Works have received a recent grant from “Awards for All” which has bought the very latest in projection equipment. This will mean that all films shown at the Fry’s Club will be of the same quality as the cinema.

Community Music Project

Keynsham has also received a substantial award towards a community music project to celebrate the opening of a new outdoor performance space which we hope will open in the summer of 2007. The aims of the project are to produce an original musical work of high quality based on Keynsham history which will involve a broad cross section of the local community.The performance will be based around some aspect of Keynsham’s history and will provide the opportunity for local residents to participate in research, creative writing, music composition, props and costume making.

The participants will work with a writer to research aspects of Keynsham’s history.  A song cycle or musical theatre piece will be developed from the research and the performnce will take the form of a procession from various points in the town to the site of the new performace area in Keynsham Memorial Park.
